Climb your mountain.

If you are in the same boat as me today you feel like you are in a deep hole, you feel defeated and lack a desire to pick yourself up. Days like these are hard. They are hard as hell and I can completely understand where you are coming from. But during these times remind yourself of a time when you felt truly happy. During college I began to have a strong fascination with mountains. It was in a short amount of time that hiking up a mountain climbed to the top of my bucket list. One of the moments in my life where I felt truly happy was when I travelled to Alaska with my family. The entire trip I continued to search for different hikes to finally make my dream a reality. And a few days before the end of our trip I found a fairly quick hike. So the night before going I packed all my stuff so I’d be ready to go first thing in the morning before we had to leave. And let me tell you during my hike the distractions of the world disappeared. The disappointments vanished and the hurt that was blinding me. All I felt was me and the earth, a divine connection to nature that I had never felt before. A happiness that overwhelms the soul and brings a sense of peace. On these hard days when I want to give up and want to let the darkness overcome me so I don’t have to fight for my happiness anymore I hold onto those happy moments. The moments that make you feel like somewhere out there it still exists and that though life is dark right now there are still those happy moments you can cling to. You may not feel them now but they are around you and you just have to open the blinders to see them. On that mountain I could see the world around me from a different perspective. I could see past all of the trees and see past the mountain on which I was standing. And for a moment everything felt like it would be ok. In that moment I felt truly happy. And though we may feel that we are in a hole it doesn’t mean we are going to stay there. Don’t forget to stand up, climb out of the hole and climb your mountain. Because I promise it is out there and it is beautiful.
